Troilus and Cressida was entered for the second time in Liber C of the Stationers' Company on January 28, 1609. The play had first been entered into Liber C on February 7, 1603, by James Roberts, a publisher. A note in the Liber allowed James to print and publish Troilus and Cressida only if he received "sufficient aucthority." Roberts may never have received sufficient authority, as no quarto editions were ever produced by him. In its second entry into Liber C, shown here, the publishers Henry Walley and Richard Bonian entered the title as "the history of Troylus and Cressida". The printer George Eld produced the first quarto and second quarto editions for Bonian and Walley, both in 1609. The play was also included in the First and Second Folios.
Liber C and the other registers with Shakespeare’s works are still kept by the Stationers’ Company in their archives.
